Soumya Prasad Garnaik

Soumya Prasad Garnaik joined GGGI in April 2022, is the India Country Representative and Asia Lead Energy Efficiency.  Soumya is the Specialist and Communities of Practice Lead, Green Buildings, and Industry in GGGI. His roles and responsibilities include exploring clean energy investment opportunities and expanding GGGI’s footprint in India and globally, along with developing, managing, and implementing energy efficiency projects.

Soumya brings along more than 26 years of service with the Indian Government, Bilateral and International organizations in various capacities related to energy policy, energy efficiency, climate change, and resource conservation areas. Prior to GGGI, he was the Executive Director of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) and undertook energy-efficient projects both in India and globally. He has also served as the Principal & Head (Energy Efficiency) in ICF International, Director in the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Technical Expert in GTZ, Joint Director in the Resource Conservation & Management Division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), and Deputy Director in Energy Management of National Productivity Council (NPC), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Govt. of India. Soumya is also the Chair/Co-Chair/Member of various national and international committees in the field of energy efficiency. He has also represented India in the ISO Technical Committee (TC)-257 in Paris and served as a focal point for Govt. of India in the Clean Energy Ministerial.

Soumya has a PG degree in Plant Engineering from India’s National Productivity Council. He is also a Certified Energy Auditor from BEE, India; CMVP from EVO and ISO 18001 Lead Auditor.
