Catalina García

Catalina García is GGGI Associate, Environmental Economist in Colombia. Her role includes supporting the program to control Colombian deforestation through economic and financial instruments as well as helping in the development of policy instruments to promote sustainable growth in the country and to support the due diligence process, focused in ESG aspects, for new projects.

Prior to GGGI, Catalina worked at Ashmore Avenida, in its real estate investment fund, as the ESG analyst. She was in charge of the due diligence for new projects and the identification of environmental and social risks. Additionally, conducted the monitoring of the portfolio projects through performance indicators. Moreover, she has three years of experience in environmental consulting at Optim Consult, where she developed economic instruments to reduce GHG emissions as well as cost-benefit and cost-effectiveness models to assess the performance of measures intended to mitigate and adapt different economic sectors to climate change.

She holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Economics and Climate Change from London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia. Catalina speaks Spanish, English and Portuguese.
