Nariño, December 19 – The session aimed to socialize the results of the “Nature-Based Tourism Strategic Plan for Nariño” developed by SMA Tourism. The strategy seeks to strengthen nature-based tourism as a green growth sector in the region making sustainable use of its biodiversity and beautiful landscapes, promoting social inclusion and economic development.
The event gathered approximately twenty important strategic stakeholders from the public and private sector that have participated in the formulation of the strategy. The Director of Tourism Paola Bacca and GGGI’s regional associate Maria Clemencia Castellanos presented the results of a participatory process that took over 6 months and delivered a diagnosis, a road map, action plan and investment plan to boost nature tourism in Nariño.
The newly elected local administration participated in the event and expressed its will to include the Plan as an input for the Regional Development Plan, the policy document that will guide the region in the next four years.
