Papua New Guinea: Climate-Resilient Green Growth Project enters its third year

On February 12, 2021, the Project Management Committee (PMC) of the Climate-Resilient and Green Growth (CRGG) Project endorsed the 2020 progress and outcome report presented by the GGGI team in PNG. They also endorsed the 2021 activity plan for Monitoring, Evaluating, Reporting, and Improving (MERI). The PMC also discussed and provisionally approved the overall 2021 implementation workplan. The PMC will further discuss additional bankable project ideas for mobilizing climate finance before the final approval of the workplan. The PMC is chaired by PNG’s Climate Change and Development Authority. Other members of the PMC include the PNG Department of National Planning and Monitoring, the Department of Provincial and Local Government Affairs, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) of Australia.

The CRGG Project is a USD 4.41 Million Australian Government funded project which aims to support PNG to plan for climate-resilient green growth in multiple sectors in provinces and deliver green growth projects with leveraged finance. GGGI has been implementing this project since 2019.
