Kickoff Event of the Project on City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation Through Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Senegal

The official launch of the Project on City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation Through Climate Resilience and Green Growth in Senegal took place on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at The Radisson Blu Hotel in Dakar. This workshop was chaired by the representative of the Minister of Water and Sanitation with a panel composed of: the Director-General of the National Office of Sanitation of Senegal-ONAS, the Representative of the Union of Associations of Mayors and Local Officials of Senegal, the Director of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the acting Country Representative of GGGI.

This project is starting a two-year pilot phase to support the Government of Senegal in improving sanitation public policies, support the integration of green growth and sanitation into national strategies for resilience to climate change, and support the mobilization of financing necessary for the implementation of two bankable business plans for the implementation of technologies and services developed in two cities of Senegal.

This project launch workshop brought together participants from governmental institutions, the private sector, the civil society, NGOs and technical and financial partners. A very dynamic and engaged discussion session on the Project generated recommendations to be considered in the implementation of Project activities
