GGGI Signs MoU with WRI on Green Growth Development in Ethiopia

 

 

 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the World Resource Institute (WRI) on 10th February 2022.

The primarily purpose of the MoU is to provide a general framework for cooperation and to facilitate collaboration between the two Parties to work together in supporting Ethiopia’s efforts on Climate Resilient Green Economy Development pathways through evidence-based research, climate action and demand driven capacity building to catalyze institutional transformation.

As part of the endeavors to meet the overriding objective of the MoU, the Parties will cooperate to support the implementation of Ethiopia’s Ten Years Perspective Development Plan and the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) as well as the design of Ethiopia’s Long Term Low Emission Development Strategy (LT-LEDS).

Accordingly, the collaboration will focus on strategic areas including Integrated Model Development for Low Carbon Development Transition pathways; Resource mobilization by jointly developing bankable projects and supporting their implementation; Capacity development, deep dive research, data, and decision-support tools; and monitoring and evaluation.

The MoU was signed between Dr. Frank Rijsberman, Director-General of GGGI and Jeff Lin, Grant and Contract Associate of WRI.

Dr. Gemedo Dalle, Country Representative of GGGI-Ethiopia and Mr. Aklilu Fikresilassie, Director for Thriving Resilient Cities Country Representative in Ethiopia were designated by each Party to serve as primary contact persons for their respective institutions.
