GGGI organizes a kick-off meeting to launch a Sustainable Energy-Water Solution for a Medium to Large-scale Irrigation of Commercial Farming in Kampala

November 9, Kampala – GGGI organized a kick-off meeting to launch a Sustainable Energy-Water Solution for a Medium to Large-scale Irrigation of Commercial Farming in Kampala today. The meeting was chaired by Uganda’s Ministry of Water and Environment and other relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Government of Uganda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting this project.

The GGGI Uganda team and GGGI’s experts met with Hon. Dr. Mary Goretti Kimono Kitutu, Uganda’s Minister of State for Environment to discuss the project concept and planned activities of the Sustainable Energy-Water Solution for a Medium to Large-scale Irrigation of Commercial Farming project. Minister Mary Goretti Kimono Kitutu reaffirmed her ministry’s support for GGGI to develop a sustainable irrigation scheme and optimum commercial farming strategies, which will contribute to improved productivity and profitability of Ugandan commercial farmers, and eventually to a sustainable and inclusive growth of the Ugandan economy.
