GGGI Director visit and partnership discussion with nationals actors in Burkina Faso

From the 27th to the 30th of March in Ouagadougou, the Director-General of GGGI Dr. Frank Rijsberman visited Burkina Faso to celebrate the ongoing successful collaboration between GGGI and Burkina Faso actors. Frank Rijsberman had many rich exchanges with national authorities, development partners, local actors and donors.

Audience at the Presidency with the Minister of Environment

The president of Burkina Faso, Excellency Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba supported the idea of ecovillages that will be climate smart, energy efficient and provide sustainable livelihoods for his population, especially the internally displaced population. The Minister of Environment, Energy, Water and Sanitation Dr. Maminata Traore-Coulibaly recognized the relevance of ecovillages for a better social inclusion. Frank Rijsberman in his turn affirmed GGGI’s continued support to Burkina Faso’s green growth in line with the urgent national priorities of security and stability.

Diplomatic visits

Frank Rijsberman also had fruitful exchanges with international ambassadors, including the ambassadors of Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands and the European Union, as well as representatives of the French, Luxemburg  and Denmark Embassies in Burkina Faso.

The visit ended with an evening networking event providing the possibility for many more partners to exchange with the Director-General and to showcase GGGI’s role and activities in Burkina Faso.
