GGGI and the Government of Mexico Sign Host Country Agreement

On September 29, 2021, the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) and the United Mexican States officially signed the GGGI-Mexico Host Country Agreement.

This milestone comes after nearly 10 years of partnership and cooperation with a wide range of Mexican government partners, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT), and the National Institute for Ecology and Climate Change (INECC). The Host Country Agreement was signed by Director General Frank Rijsberman and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Marcelo Ebrard Casaubón.

GGGI will continue its support to the Government of Mexico to 1) mobilize climate finance through the Green Climate Fund,  2) incorporate ESG standards and climate risk into financial regulations through the support of the UK PACT program, 3) support subnational Green Recovery, 4) contribute to biodiversity conservation and community-based forest landscape restoration, plus 5) additional workstreams related to energy and circular economy.
