Empowering Ivorian Negotiators for COP26

Grand Bassam, Côte d’Ivoire, October 11-13, 2021 – The Ministry of Environment, with the support of GGGI, organized a training session from October 11-13, 2021, for Ivoirian negotiators to prepare for CoP26. Representatives from ministries, CSO’s, and local authorities took part of this training.

The main objective of this workshop was to strengthen the capacities of the negotiators and members of civil society organizations in Côte d’Ivoire to better defend the choices and positions of the country during upcoming CoP26 negotiations.

This training session benefited from the support of GGGI through the financing of the project, Empowering local non-state actors and vulnerable communities for climate action and resilience, funded by OSIWA.

Civil society organizations were thus able to benefit, alongside the negotiators, from training on various subjects such as the functioning of the CoPs, the different thematic and negotiation groups, the various African positions and the aspirations of Côte d ‘Ivoire for CoP26.

After a constructive training with participants, the session ended with words the project Coordinator Charles BAÏMEY who thanked the Ministry of Environment and all the participants. He recognized the role of all actors in this process of engaging CSO’s as well in such training.
