COTE D’IVOIRE: CSO’s VALIDATION WORKSHOP ON TRAININGS NEED ASSESSMENT ON CLIMATE CHANGE RELATED ISSUES

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, the GGGI Côte d’Ivoire held a validation workshop on CSO need assessment for training as part of the project: “Empowering Local Non-State Actors and Vulnerable Communities for Climate Action and Resilience in Côte d’Ivoire”.

GGGI in partnership with Open Society for West Africa (OSIWA) provide support to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations and their influences in advocacy for the fight against climate change. The main objective of this workshop was to consult CSO on the capacities they need to build in the climate change related issues.

The specific objectives of this workshop were to validate the training modalities (content, format and materials) that will be provide to the CSOs as part of the project to strengthen the capacities of non-state actors and vulnerable communities to climate change. This objective is to (i) present to CSOs the results of the consultation workshop from June that include training themes and questions linked to climate change (knowledge), skills to be strengthened during training (ii) present and validate a categorization of CSOs according to their needs for training sessions (iii) presentation of training modules thematic and (iv) discuss, the different articulation of July training sessions.

The workshop brought together 35 CSO with strong interest on climate change issues.

The workshop allowed the validation of the different groups for the training. Also, the training themes were proposed and validated. CSOs have shown great interest in topics related to climate diplomacy, CoP 26 issues, climate finance, advocacy, etc.

The workshop ended with words of thanks from the project coordinator.
