CABEI and GGGI join hands for climate action in Central America

SEOUL – July 12, 2022 – Dr. Kyung Nam Shin, Assistant Director General (IPSD) for Investment and Policy Services Division (IPSD) of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), met Mr. Dante Mossi, Executive President, Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), at their newly established CABEI Korea Office in Yeouido, Seoul. Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding to conceptualize, design, and implement projects emphasizing climate action, overcoming poverty, and achieving food security. CABEI and GGGI will enhance economic development’s environmental and social sustainability, develop joint initiatives to improve procurement, and exchange technical know-how in the development, analysis, structuring, and monitoring of operations. CABEI senior management team was also present in the discussions and expressed confidence in collaborating upon GGGI projects in Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. Dr. Shin briefly introduced GGGI and gave an overview of its Latin America and the Caribbean regional program. He recounted GGGI’s success with Green Bonds last year and recent successes with partners in Luxembourg, Denmark, and Sweden. Dr. Shin shared that CABEI is an essential institution for Korea and GGGI due to its regional presence in Central America and its role in developing its member countries.
