Brooke’s Point, Palawan Tested out Electric Tricycle: Climate Resilient Green Growth is now in action

February 28, Manila – GGGI structured a grant deal arrangement as a form of providing 50 units of electric tricycles (valued at USD 455,000) to the Brooke’s Point Municipality, Province of Palawan in the Philippines. The grant was made through the Asian Development Bank-funded electric trikes project of the Department of Energy (DOE), envisioning to transform the tricycle subsector by replacing traditional engines with plug-in electric motors.

“We express our gratitude to the Global Green Growth Institute for providing us technical advice in the analytical work and in the preparation of the documentary requirements for our grant application,” said Mayor Mary Jean Feliciano, of the Municipality of Brooke’s Point.

This is one of the results on the ground of “climate resilient green growth (CRGG)” approach, which GGGI has been supporting the provincial governments and municipalities. The GGGI Philippines team is also facilitating a similar deal of providing 50 electric tricycles to the Municipality of San Vicente, Palawan, which is expected to be completed in April 2019.
