14th Seoul ODA International Conference

SEOUL, Republic of Korea; September 9, 2021 – Today, GGGI Director-General, Dr. Frank Rijsberman, delivered a presentation at the 14th Seoul ODA International Conference. Dr. Rijsberman was a speaker in Session II of the event to share his insights on achieving a greener recovery.

During his presentation, Director-General Rijsberman emphasized the importance of Green Official development assistance (ODA) to help developing countries and emerging economies cope with climate change and promote sustainable development.

“Poor people in developing countries are especially vulnerable to floods, droughts, cyclones, indoor air pollution & disproportionally affected by the pandemic,” shared Dr. Rijsberman in his concluding remarks of the presentation.

Dr. Rijsberman also highlighted the priorities for green growth ODA, which include Green Job Creation for sustainable livelihoods and poverty reduction, supporting green SMEs & innovation; Low carbon development through renewable energy and low carbon transportation, buildings and managing waste; and Climate Change Adaptation through climate-smart agriculture and nature-based solutions.
